Two players, side by side, walking through the streets of a ruined city hitting gang members with bats, whips and oil drums. Double Dragon set the template for every beat-'em-up that followed.

The ending, where the brothers turn on each other, broke up real friendships. The NES version dropped the two-player mode, which is why the arcade cabinet is the memory.
