Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Memories you submit. The text and optional display name you choose to post. These are public. We also store a one-way hashed fingerprint derived from your network address solely to prevent spam — we never store your raw IP address. Submissions are screened by an automated moderation service (the OpenAI Moderation API) to keep the wall safe; the text is sent only to classify it, not to identify you.
• Likes. A random, anonymous device identifier kept in your browser, used only to stop the same device from liking a memory twice.
• Favorites & in-progress mixtapes. Stored only in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device or reach our servers.
• Published mixtapes. If you choose to publish a mixtape, its title, description, and song list become public at a shareable link.
• Secret Frequency (optional cross-device sync). If you choose to “save your stuff,” we store a small blob of your collected state (favorites, saved themes, mixtapes, liked-memory IDs) on our server, keyed only by a one-way keyed hash of your 4-word phrase — never the phrase itself, and no email, name, or login. This is pseudonymous personal data, minimized. A crate untouched for 12 months is automatically deleted, and you can erase it any time with “Forget my frequency.” The “keep me tuned in” cookie (opt-in, default off) holds only a random device token.
• Display preferences. A functional cookie remembers your chosen look (light/dark, cassette/vinyl/CD, etc.). It contains no personal data and is not used for tracking.
• Operational logs. Our hosting providers (Vercel and Neon) keep standard request logs for security and reliability.

What we don't do

• We don’t require accounts or collect names, emails, or logins.
• We don’t sell or rent your data to anyone.
• We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data retention

We keep as little as possible, for as long as it’s useful — no longer. Memoriesyou post are kept indefinitely so they stay on the song’s wall, and you can delete them anytime. Direct messages auto-delete after about 6 months; chat clears after about 30 days— both are ephemeral by design. Moderation reports are removed within about 90 days of being resolved. Transient system data (online status, rate-limit counters, caches) lives only for seconds to minutes and expires itself. We don’t store your name, email, or address — your identity is a pseudonymous screenname you control.

Moderation & safety

Public posts (memories, replies, spins, the guestbook, and chat) are screened automatically and can be reported by other users. Direct messages are private and aren’t scanned— but if someone you’ve messaged reports a conversation for abuse, an administrator may review the reported messages, only as needed to resolve that report. Please keep that in mind before sharing anything sensitive in a DM.

Push notifications

If you turn on the 🔔 bell (opt-in, off by default), your browser creates an anonymous push subscription so we can let you know about replies and events. We store only the technical subscription — an endpoint and its keys — with no name, email, or account attached. Turn the bell off, or revoke notifications in your browser, and the subscription is deleted; stale endpoints the push service reports as gone are removed automatically.

Links to other services

G33Z3R doesn’t host or stream music. Our “play,” playlist, radio, ticket, and purchase buttons send you to third-party services (such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube, Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and Ticketmaster). We also fetch tour dates from Ticketmaster to show on artist and theme pages. Once you leave our site, those services collect and use data under their own privacy policies, which we don’t control.

Connecting to Spotify

If you choose “Create on Spotify,” you log in with Spotify and grant permission to create a playlist in your library. The connection runs entirely in your browser — your Spotify access token never reaches our servers, and we do not store it or any of your Spotify data. We use the access only to look up your songs and create the one playlist you requested; when you close the tab, the connection is gone.

You can revoke G33Z3R’s access at any time from spotify.com/account/apps. Because we store nothing, there’s nothing on our side to delete.

YouTube videos

Wherever a music video plays on G33Z3R — the GZR-FM station, Retro TV, the Crate feed, song pages, and the pop-out player — we use YouTube API Servicesto play it through YouTube’s official embedded player. Nothing video-related loads until you start a video — at which point YouTube may set cookies and collect data through its player. By playing a video you are agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service, and that activity is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. We use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookiehost, we don’t host or store any video, and we keep only a YouTube video ID per song so we know which clip to load.

Analytics & spam protection

We measure traffic with Vercel Analytics — privacy-friendly, aggregate, and cookieless (no cross-site profile, no advertising). To keep spam off the memory, reply, and song-suggestion forms we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-respecting bot check. Turnstile sets its own functional cookies so it can tell real people from bots; it is not used to advertise to you or track you across other sites.

Voice features (Ask the DJ)

The Ask the DJ chatbot has two optional, off-by-default voice features:

• Read aloud sends the bot’s reply text (nothing about you) to OpenAIto synthesize speech that plays in your browser. If it’s unavailable, your browser’s own built-in voice is used.
• Microphone dictation (the 🎤 button) uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition. In some browsers (e.g. Chrome) that sends your spoken audio to the browser maker’s speech service to transcribe it; it only runs after you grant the microphone permission, and G33Z3R never receives or stores your audio — only the text you choose to send.

Cookies

We use one functional cookie to remember your display preferences. Beyond that: Cloudflare Turnstile may set cookies when you submit a memory, reply, or song suggestion (spam protection, above), and YouTube’s embedded player can set cookies after you choose to start a video on Retro TV. Our analytics are cookieless. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of our own. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Children

G33Z3R is intended for a general, nostalgic adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. Please don’t submit memories if you are under 13.

Removing your content or data

You can delete anything you post, yourself: your memories and mixtapes from My G33Z3R, and your chat lines, direct messages, guestbook signatures, hosted events, and added tracks right where they appear (look for the 🗑). Memories you posted anonymously(without a screenname) can be removed too — a 🗑 appears on them on the same browser you posted from, which is how we recognize they’re yours without storing any identity.

If you’ve since cleared your browser or switched devices, email us at info@g33z3r.com with the memory’s text or its link and we’ll remove it within 30 days (usually much sooner). Use the same address for any other question about your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows. We’ll revise the date above when we do, so check back from time to time.
