The red big-box electronics chain that was the Saturday trip for a new stereo or camcorder — the glowing wall of TVs all tuned to the same demo, aisles of CDs, and the car-audio bay where they'd install a deck and speakers. Once a category leader, it lost the war with Best Buy and a series of missteps. It liquidated all its stores in 2009.
