The blue-and-yellow rental giant that owned Friday night — you walked the aisles hoping the last copy of the new release hadn't already been grabbed, agonized between two picks, and left with candy from the counter and a nagging fear of the late fee. Rewind or pay for it. Mail-order and streaming gutted the model, and the corporate stores went dark around 2010.
