Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour

1963–1990

The birthday sundae with the siren.

The gaslight-era ice cream parlour with striped vests, player-piano jingles, and a candy counter up front. A birthday — or a big enough group — meant an enormous shared sundae paraded out on a stretcher to a screaming siren and a pounding drum while the whole room watched. After changing hands, the original chain largely vanished by 1990.
