Homeboy was serious; homeslice was the goofy cousin, and homeskillet was the one after that. It was what you called a friend when you were being a little ridiculous on purpose.
It's peak early-'90s suburban slang: borrowed, softened, and used affectionately by people who knew they sounded silly.
