The Story
Beat Happening is an American indie pop band from Olympia, Washington, known for their playful take on twee pop. With members Calvin Johnson, Heather Lewis, and Bret Lunsford at the helm, they embraced a lo-fi aesthetic that celebrated simplicity over technical prowess. Their sound is characterized by carefree melodies and coy lyrics, making them early pioneers in the indie pop and slacker rock movements. Their track "Indian Summer" exemplifies their whimsical charm and approachable style, blending earnestness with a hint of irony. Beat Happening's music invites listeners to enjoy the lighter side of life, one jangly chord at a time.
