Minutemen was an American alternative and punk rock band from San Pedro, California, active since 1980. Comprised of Mike Watt on bass, D. Boon on guitar and vocals, and drummer George Hurley, they became known for their economical approach to music—both in songwriting and touring. Their sound blended elements of hardcore punk with influences from funk and jazz, resulting in tight, engaging tracks like “This Ain't No Picnic,” “Corona,” and “History Lesson Part II.” Though their journey ended too soon after Boon's tragic passing, their philosophy of "jamming econo" and distinctive style left a lasting imprint on the punk scene, echoing through the years like a well-loved record.
