The Story
Picture a sunny afternoon, the sweet sound of harmonies wafting through the streets of Jersey City, where a group of high school friends, known as The Jelly Beans, captured hearts with their infectious rhythm and blues. These five vocalists, bursting with youthful energy, caught the attention of music moguls Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, landing them a deal with Red Bird Records. Their debut single, "I Wanna Love Him So Bad," showcased their vocal flair and quickly became a favorite. Although they followed up with "Baby Be Mine" and recorded plenty more, an album never materialized before the winds of change shifted and they parted ways in the mid-'60s. The Jelly Beans may have had a brief moment in the spotlight, but their catchy tunes linger on, reminding us of the sweet innocence of youth and the power of a good melody.
