What is Radical Radio Recall?
Radical Radio Recall is a free song-guessing game built on the shortest clip imaginable: one second of a classic '80s or '90s hit. Name the song in five guesses. After every miss you get another clue — the year, then the genre, then the artist's initials, and finally a squint-mode look at the album cover — until it clicks or you're out.
It's Heardle at radio-scan speed: the way you could name a song from the half-second between stations on the car dial.
How to play
- 1Tap play. You'll hear one second of the song — that's all you get for the first guess.
- 2Type the song title (autocomplete helps). Wrong? A new clue drops: year, genre, artist initials, then a very blurry cover.
- 3Five guesses total. Nail it early for the bragging rights.
- 4Share your score, then hear the whole song and see what people remember about it.
Questions
- Is Radical Radio Recall free?
- Yes — free, no account, no ads. Your stats and streak are saved in your browser.
- How often is there a new round?
- New rounds are broadcast on a rolling schedule and there's always a current one on the air — the round number tells you which you're on.
- Where does the one second of audio come from?
- A one-second slice of the song's official video, played through YouTube's own player. We never host or download music.
- Which songs are used?
- Recognizable '80s and '90s hits from the G33Z3R catalog — the ones you'd know from one second on the radio.
- Is this like Heardle?
- Same guess-the-song-from-a-snippet idea, but the snippet is one second, the clues escalate, and the songs are all from the cassette era.
