The file

Andrew Gold wrote it in about an hour in 1978 and called it a throwaway; it was a modest hit. Seven years later a session singer named Cynthia Fee recorded it for a sitcom about four women in Miami and it became the most-sung theme of the decade.

It's a wedding song, a funeral song and a drag-brunch song now, and every version is the Golden Girls one, not Gold's.
