The Story

OriginUnited StatesGenresoulLabelMotown

Brenda Holloway is a soul singer from the United States who made her mark at Motown. Known primarily for her emotive delivery, her standout track “Every Little Bit Hurts” showcases her ability to convey deep feelings through powerful vocals. She also co-wrote “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” a song that found new life when it was covered by Blood, Sweat & Tears. After a four-year stint with Motown, she stepped away from the spotlight at just 22 but returned to the scene in the 1990s, thanks to a resurgence of interest in her work on the British Northern soul circuit. Her music remains a heartfelt reflection of the era.
