The Story
Divinyls was an Australian new wave band that emerged from Sydney in 1980, featuring the dynamic pairing of vocalist Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. Though they started as a five-piece, the band's lineup shifted over the years, with Amphlett and McEntee remaining at the helm until their split in 1996. Known for their bold stage presence, Amphlett often made a statement with her striking outfits, including a school uniform paired with fishnet stockings. Their most recognizable track, "I Touch Myself," showcases their knack for catchy melodies and edgy themes, leaving a distinct mark on the new wave scene. Divinyls certainly knew how to mix sass with substance.
