The Story
Focus is a Dutch progressive and art rock band that started in the Netherlands in 1969. Initially led by the multi-talented Thijs van Leer, who handled keyboards, vocals, and flute, the band has seen many lineup changes over the years. The current members include Van Leer, drummer Pierre van der Linden, guitarist Menno Gootjes, and bassist Udo Pannekeet. Known for their eclectic sound and intricate compositions, they gained considerable attention with their signature track “Hocus Pocus,” which showcases a unique blend of rock rhythms and classical influences. With a career spanning decades, their music remains a delightful exploration of creativity and musicianship that continues to be rediscovered by new audiences.
