🎧 Ask the DJ about Rick Dees And His Cast Of IdiotsThe Story
Rick Dees And His Cast Of Idiots is an American ensemble best known for the novelty hit "Disco Duck (Pt. 1 Vocal)" released through RSO Records. Fronted by Rick Dees, a radio personality who gained fame with his weekly countdown show, the group delivered a playful take on the disco craze of the '70s. Their sound was characterized by upbeat melodies and humorous lyrics that captured the silliness of the era. Beyond the music, Dees became a recognizable voice, even popping up in pop culture references like the infamous "You Are An Idiot" trojan from his 1984 comedy album, "Put It Where the Moon Don’t Shine." It's a quirky nod to a time when laughter and dance went hand in hand.
