Mekka
1995–1999
“Dancers in cages and world-class techno DJs.”
Dance Clubs · Arena District
The club that brought the big-city concept to Columbus in 1995 — a warehouse in the historic Buggyworks Building with multi-level floors, dancers in cages, and world-touring techno, house and trance DJs alongside dark industrial and goth nights. A titan of the city's electronic-dance scene, it burned bright and closed in 1999.
Did you dance at Mekka? What do you remember?
The drive, the dance, the heartbreak, the summer. Add a memory of Mekka.
