Mekka
1995–1999
“Dancers in cages and a big-city warehouse floor.”
Dance Clubs · Arena District
The club that brought the big-city concept to Columbus in 1995 — a 10,000-square-foot warehouse in the Buggyworks Building with dancers in cages, overstuffed furniture, and a floor that could go toe-to-toe with New York or Chicago. It burned bright and closed in 1999.
Did you dance at Mekka? What do you remember?
The drive, the dance, the heartbreak, the summer. Add a memory of Mekka.
