The file

A knight on a flying ostrich, a flap button, and the rule that whoever was higher won the collision. Joust was the first arcade game two people played at the same time, and the first where your friend could kill you.

The pterodactyl that showed up when you took too long was the game's way of ending things, and the eggs that hatched into new riders if you didn't collect them taught the whole arcade about consequences.
