The candy is remembered less than the commercials, in which giant fruit fell from the sky onto anyone who ate one. Bonkers were Starburst-adjacent chews with a gooey center, and for a few years in the late '80s they were in every trick-or-treat bag.
Nabisco let the brand lapse in the '90s. A company acquired the name later and promised a return, which became one of those comebacks that gets announced and then goes quiet.
