Who wrote the Mr. Clean jingle?

The oldest song on this list and one of the longest-running: a bald man in white, with an earring, who arrived to a jingle about the grime he'd remove. Gen X got the animated and live-action versions through the '70s and '80s.

Thomas Scott Cadden wrote it in 1957 and it's been rerecorded ever since without changing the melody. The character is the same too, which is why he looks like he's been sixty years old for sixty years.
