In 1994, “The Sign” by Ace of Base topped the Billboard year-end Hot 100 and Dookie by Green Day and Superunknown by Soundgarden were on every turntable. Forrest Gump, The Lion King and Pulp Fiction were in theaters, and Friends premieres, ER premieres and My So-Called Life were on TV.
The headlines: O.J. Simpson Bronco chase. New that year: Netscape Navigator launches. Fads of the year: Power Rangers peak and Friends debuts. Gas was about $1.11 a gallon, a stamp was 29¢ and a movie ticket ran ~$4.18. On the shelf: a pack of Dunkaroos, a Squeezit and a stack of Pogs, with Batman: The Animated Series on Saturday morning.
